Background
The current location of the village dates back to the Middle Ages and was built on the hill over the left bank of the Agly river for security reasons.
The original village began with the old Pena county castle built at the summit of a rugged calcareous rock dominating the river. It has been replaced by the "Ermitage de Notre Dame" (Our Lady Hermitage).
